Problem with video reference in maya 2017

Hey guys a friend of mine is having an issue with using reference videos in Maya 2017, he can upload the video but it will not play past the 10th frame, we have checked everything and still won’t work, the video works on his computer outside Maya and it even works on my program, we have used different videos to rule out the case of the video been broken but no results, does anyone know what could be the problem and how can we fix it?
