Some assholes have been putting nails in cheese and treats in dog parks in Chicago and Massachusetts. Also adding antifreeze to water bowls.

Please watch out for your dogs. And if you find out the address of someone doing this, give me the address and tell no one. I will disembowel them.

Antifreeze is fucking deadly as shit. Whilst my mom worked in the vets office the neighbor of a cat owner had become sick of his neighbors tom spraying by his house so he left antifreeze out for the cat. Animals are weirdly attracted to the smell and will drink it.

The cat was given to the vets and for 2 days it’s insides were slowly dissolved by the acids and it bled from his nose, mouth and even eyes.

On the second day, the vet not being able to help and refusing to let the cat suffer any longer put the cat down. The neighbor who did not deny his crimes didn’t even offer to pay the woman’s vet bill.

SO THE BIGGEST FUCKING SIGNAL BOOST TO THIS POST.

Fuck who ever is doing this. They can fucking burn.

my friend had a cat and it drank antifreeze that was puddled in the driveway and one day they were knitting and it just vomited up all of its internal organs and fell over dead on her lap.

The perpetrators of all of this will burn in Hell.

A neighbor of mine threw a ball of hamburger full of rat poison pellets over our fence for my son’s dog. He survived, barely, but has had nerve damage ever since.

Okay, listen up, if your pet drinks antifreeze, do you know what the cure is? Alcohol. That’s right. To save your furry little friend you have to get them drunk out of their faces. Antifreeze is an inhibitor and stops your enzymes from working, but luckily alcohol stops that from happening. I learned this from my A Level Biology lessons, but here’s a source anyway http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/2617997.stm

Shit this is important SIGNAL BOOST THIS THANK YOU ALICE

BOOST.
FUCKING BOOST.

ALWAYS REBLOG

not blog related, but I’m not an asshole

Wait a second isn’t alcohol toxic to pets too????

If I ever need this, there will be repercussions.

This is a good source for treatment. Bookmark it. Some important things to note that are listed in this:

-The first signs and symptoms are your pet stumbling around like it is drunk.
-The reason a lot of pets die is that, after this event, many seem to improve and go back to normal. THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARY. So if your pet starts stumbling around, do not hesitate to take it to the vet. Animals don’t just randomly stumble around, even though humans do sometimes.
-By the time you are seeing definite symptoms, like vomiting of blood, your pet is probably already dead, so ‘vodka treatment’ shouldn’t be the first thing you reach for, because there are other reasons your cat/dog may be acting drunk.

  • BUT, if you actually witness/are pretty darned sure your animal has ingested ethylene glycol, do the following:
  • Call Animal Poison Control-

ASPCA’s Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435), or the Pet Poison Helpline (855-213-6680) They may provide you with certain instructions.

  • Induce vomiting- Don’t do this if your animal is already unconscious. Make sure you have some gloves, so you can scoop the vomit out of their mouth. They need this to protect their airway. Use a mL of hydrogen peroxide per pound weight of animal, up to 45 mL. If they have not eaten anything in the last two hours except the ethylene glcol, it may not work. Use a dropper/medicine syringe to squirt it at the back of their throat. Do not use activated charcoal, as it does not bind to ethylene glycol.
  • Call your vet– Even if organ damage is prevented through vomiting and ‘vodka treatment’, your pet may still suffer central nervous system depression, causing them to stop breathing, their heart to stop beating, have seizures, or paralysis. They need to be monitored. Alcohol treatment is used, but it is done intravenously, and in addition to other medications. I would seriously only attempt alcohol treatment as a last resort, as dosage is very hard. Make it a liquor with high alcohol content, preferably clear, like gin, vodka, or everclear. Make sure it does not contain xylitol. I would say a shot should be given to any animal under 30 pounds, except for kittens and puppies, or especially small cats or dogs. Literally, the site I listed claims that 8 shots is the dosage for a 45 pound dog, but you CAN’T COMPLETE THE TREATMENT ON YOUR OWN. THIS IS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION. And make sure you write down what you gave them, and how much.
